How do you help students make the world a better place? You give them team building opportunities (and to learn how to canoe)! Falcon Friends has SO much fun today with Wilderness Inquiry learning how to be a team! Way to go, and keep up the great work in welcoming new families to Forrestal.

Forrestal is receiving a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program this year that delivers a snack to students twice a week! Tuesday is a veggie snack and Thursday is fruit. During the live stream morning announcements on that day we learn about the fruit or vegetable. We absolutely love this program so far!

Dear Forrestal Parents/Guardians: Due to the extreme heat expected tomorrow, Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, and current facility conditions, Forrestal Elementary will be closed for in-person learning. All students will participate in remote learning/e-learning for the day. A list of Google Meet links for each class can be found on the Forrestal school website under the "Severe Weather Plan." Chromebooks were previously sent home with students for remote learning purposes. Note: All other District 187 schools will remain open as planned. Thank you for your understanding!

Remote Learning 08/27/2024
Dear Forrestal Parent/Guardians: A construction company struck a gas pipe near the south end of the Forrestal building. Per safety procedures, 911 was notified. The gas company quickly responded by shutting off the gas in that area. The fire department has provided the all-clear, and all students have returned to their regular schedules. Student safety is paramount during times like this, and we are happy to report that the remainder of the day will go as scheduled.

Forrestal parents/guardians: At 9:15 am, a company not affiliated with Forrestal's new building drilled into the ground on Wisconsin Avenue to lay new fiber optic cables. They hit an unmarked/undetected underground gas pipe. Their safety protocol was to call 911 immediately. The Navy Fire Department responded and ordered an evacuation of Forrestal out of an abundance of caution while the gas pipe was repaired. During the assessment, all students were accounted for and boarded buses dispatched by the District Transportation Department in a well-coordinated effort with the school that would have taken Forrestal students and staff to the HS; however, all was repaired before that needed to occur. The Fire Department and Nicor gave the all-clear and students returned at approximately 10:30 am. At this time, Forrestal students are at Forrestal Elementary and will follow a regular early dismissal today (Wednesday). We want to reassure you that the safety of our D187 students is our top priority, and all necessary measures have been taken. We thank you for your understanding.
