Dr. Monique Auxila

Dr. Monique Auxila (oak-see-la) - Director of Special Education

Dr. Monique Auxila is highly skilled and knowledgeable in the area of Special Education and Behavioral Health/Social Emotional Health.  She prides herself on building a community that supports the academic achievement of students and adults alike. Dr. Auxila has worked in education for approximately 15 years as an administrative assistant, special education teacher, school administrator, and district level administrator. She has been able to demonstrate her leadership abilities through collaborative efforts with staff and parents to identify areas of need, and develop plans with support and resources for success.  Monique enjoys spending time with her family.  In her spare time, you can find Dr. Auxila engaging in outdoor activities and indulging in her love for reading. 

Stacey Betters

Stacey Betters- Assistant Director of Special Education

Stacey Betters has worked in large urban school districts for over 16 years in a variety of roles including: Social Worker, Response to Intervention/Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports District Coach, High School Special Education Coordinator,  District Representative with the Office of Special Education and Social Emotional Learning Specialist with High Schools.  Stacey is excited to be a part of the  North Chicago Team as an Assistant Director of Special Education.  Her enthusiasm for sound leadership practices and her dedication to the field of education has helped her create a more equitable and responsive learning experience for her students, colleagues, schools, and districts  she supports.   Along with her leadership skills and educational background, her social work and coaching experiences have enhanced Stacey’s sincerest devotion in her efforts to provide proactive and preventative support for the success of youth.

Niki Kirkwood

Niki Kirkwood-Assistant Director of Special Education

Niki Kirkwood has a well-rounded background in special education services and refined talents in compliance and educational programming. She holds certifications in both Illinois and Wisconsin as a Director of Special Education, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Principal certification, and Reading Recovery certification. Her endorsements have gained her the opportunity to serve as a Special Education Supervisor, Supervisor of Related Services, Coordinator of Accountability & Compliance, and Supervisor of Alternative Programs. She focuses her supports around making data-driven decisions for students in addition to, providing  consistency for students, families and staff for North Chicago School District #187. Within the community, she is a member with Lake County NAACP and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. 

Sara Kline

Sara Kline-Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator

Sara Kline has spent her entire career serving families with the majority of her experience focused in Spanish bilingual and early childhood special education. She is proud to form part of North Chicago D187 serving as the Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator for Green Bay Early Childhood Center. Her passion for early learning and focus on equitable inclusion drives her decision making as a leader. Sara is committed to building long lasting relationships with both  families and local community partners to ensure that all North Chicago children  have quality early childhood experiences as they begin to write their own stories of success.

Michele Green

Michele Green - District Health Coordinator

Michele Green has nearly 2 decades of healthcare experience with much of her practice focused on serving pediatric and community school populations. With the belief that every individual deserves access to quality health outcomes, she earned her Bachelor’s of Community Health Leadership from DePaul University in 2013 and her Master’s in Nursing from DePaul University in 2019. She has a Public Educator’s License and is a Certified School Nurse. Committed to the principles of providing health equity, she is currently a Doctor of Nursing Practice candidate to better serve the needs of historically under-served children and families. 

Dr. Carol Du Clos

Dr. Carol Du Clos- Outplacement Coordinator

Dr. Du Clos’ professional career has been dedicated to Special Education as a teacher, university instructor, and administrator. For the past nine years, Dr. Du Clos has been grateful to be part of the North Chicago team serving students and families in several assignments including Outplacement Coordinator.  As Outplacement Coordinator, following the students’ progress is one of the most rewarding aspects.  Being with family, friends and traveling are most important.  

Dr. Paula Miller

Dr. Paula Miller - Outplacement Coordinator 

Dr. Paula Miller is entering her 43rd year as an educator.  During the past  42 years, she  has had the opportunity to work all over the country in therapeutic, state and public schools as well as working in vocational workshops for those with disabilities.  Dr. Miller taught or was an administrator for  all grades and levels of special education, including adults. .  She has been a Director of Special Education, a Sheltered and Transitional Workshop Director, Outplacement Coordinator, Assistant Principal and Building Principal. Dr. Miller is committed to the North Chicago community and is thrilled to continue her work with students and families  for her  6th year at  District 187.  

Taylor Genseal

Taylor Genseal - Board Certified Behavioral Analyst - Special Education Coordinated Early Intervening Services

DTaylor Genseal is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has worked in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis for over 6 years. Taylor has worked in a variety of therapeutic and educational settings and supported individuals ranging from ages 2 to 22, with a wide range of support needs. She received her M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis with a focus in Autism from Southeast Missouri State University. Taylor is thrilled to be a part of the North Chicago team and has found a home for her passion for developing evidence based behavioral supports that take the whole student into account. Taylor also serves as a volunteer clinician with the non-profit, The Global Autism Project, which serves to promote culturally conscious and sustainable Autism services in developing countries around the world.
